The WRC postpones two more rallies

The corona virus (COVID-19) is urging the WRC to postpone two additional tests. The World Rally Championship had to postpone the Argentina Rally planned for late April. The Rally Portugal planned from May 21 to 24 and the Rally Sardinia planned from June 4 to 7 have been postponed. The WRC will look for a new date for the two races.

“Everyone involved will work later in the season to find new dates for rescheduled rallies when the situation around the Covid-19 improves, taking into account the logistics of the championship and the agility of the participants, and the ability of the countries concerned to prepare for the WRC and align, ”said Oliver Ciesla, director of the WRC promoter who organized the championship.

The next event on the calendar is the Kenya Rally in mid-July.

Motorsport was discontinued due to a corona virus

The last event in the WRC was the Mexico Rally in mid-March. The event was canceled and ended on Saturday, a day earlier than expected. The aim was to enable all participants to return to Europe as quickly as possible, at a time when more and more countries were closing their borders.

The corona virus pandemic has resulted in many motorsport races being postponed. The F1 had to give up the first eight races of the 2020 season on schedule. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was the last postponed event earlier this week. The coronavirus pandemic has many ramifications for the Formula 1 world, which has postponed its new regulations for a year.

In the other categories, the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2020 was postponed to September, a first since 1968, and Formula E paused for two months, which led to the cancellation of the E-. Parisian price.
